China GT Championship:
Racing Steps Foundation-backed driver Jake Dennis will step into Asian competition this week as he competes in both the China GT Championship and the Audi R8 LMS Cup China.
Dennis, who alongside team-mates Robin Frijns and Stuart Leonard, finished second in the final Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup round in Barcelona in their Team WRT Audi R8 LMS machine.
The former McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner will first take on the mid-week round five of the China GT Championship at the Chengdu International Circuit with the Kings Linky Racing squad. Dennis will team up with Amateur racer and championship leader Xu Jia in his #97 Kings Audi R8 LMS machine for the double race affair.
Dennis will then head east to the Zhejiang International Circuit for the final round of the Audi R8 LMS Cup China, teaming up in a single-driver entry with the Team WRT squad that he has competed with throughout the 2017 Blancpain Sprint and Endurance season throughout Europe.
“The opportunity arose a few weeks ago, asking if I’d like to race over there in both the China GT championship and Audi R8 LMS Cup,” said Dennis. “I felt it was a good opportunity to race in Asia so took it with both hands.
“The China GT races take place between Tuesday and Thursday with the Audi R8 Cup the following weekend. It’ll be my first time competing in Asia so I’m excited to see what the quality of racing is like and pit myself against other Pro drivers in the Audi R8 Cup.”
